John noticed the Deltas lining up for their soma ration. John tries to convince them that they don’t need this drug by preaching ideas of knowledge and freedom but the Deltas are incapable of understanding any of it and continue to line up for the drug. John throws the soma out of the window which got the Deltas angry and caused a riot in the hospital. Bernard and Helmholtz get involved in the riot themselves when they tried to save John and were also arrested by the police.
