Work:
Equation;

Distribute 3 over parenthesis.
[tex]3x - 12 > 5x + 2[/tex]
Move variable 5x to the left side and change its sign.
[tex]3x - 5x - 12 > 2[/tex]
Collect like terms.
[tex] - 2x - 12 > 2[/tex]
Now divide both sides of inequality by -2 and flip the inequality sign.
[tex]x < - 7 \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: result[/tex]
