The point-slope formula:

[tex]y-y_1=m(x-x_1)\\\\m=\dfrac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}[/tex]

We have (-2, 1) and (1, 7).

Substitute:

[tex]m=\dfrac{7-1}{1-(-2)}=\dfrac{6}{3}=2[/tex]

[tex]y-1=2(x-(-2))\\\\y-1=2(x+2)[/tex]
