You can set up a proportion to answer this question.

[tex]\frac{1}{3.5} =\frac{x}{7}[/tex]

This says, "If one pound costs $3.50, how many pounds is $7?"

Solve for x by cross multiplying.

7=3.5x

*Divide both sides by 3.5*

2=x

2 pounds of candies can be bought for $7.

Hope this helps!!
