Now subtract the mean form each of the values:

2 - 7 = -5

5 - 7 = -2

The squares of these are 25, 4, 1, 1, 49

Their sum = 25 + 4 + 1 + 1 + 49 = 80

Now divide this by 5  = 16.

Standard deviation is  √16 = 4.
