If x and y are supplementary, then

[tex]x+y=180[/tex]

we also know that [tex]x=3y[/tex], so the sum becomes

[tex]3y+y=180 \iff 4y=180 \iff y=45[/tex]

Since x is 3 times as y, we have x=135
