The Italian resistance movement represented resistance groups that were formed during the second world war. It opposed Nazi Germany. They were not resistance fighters to the allies rather they were opponents to Axis powers such as Fascist Italy, Nazi Germany and the Italian Social Republic. They were partisans and they took part in the Italian liberation war.
