Step 1) Divide the figure into shapes
Large rectangle: 5 x 12
Smaller rectangle: 4 x 6
Square: 2 x 2
Triangle: 4 x 3
Step 2) Find the area of each shapes
Large rectangle: A = 5 x 12 = 60
Smaller rectangle: A = 4 x 6 = 24
Square: A = 2 x 2 = 4
Triangle: A = 1/2 x 4 x 3 = 6
Step 3) Add all of the areas together
A = 60 + 24 + 4 + 6 = 94 square miles
