Roles of light in photosynthesis:
The light-dependent reactions use light energy to form two molecules needed for the subsequent stage of photosynthesis: the energy storage molecule ATP and also the reduced electron carrier NADPH. In plants, the sunshine reactions happen within the thylakoid membranes of organelles called chloroplasts.
