You have a 32-foot fence around a square garden. There are 4 equal sections. You paint 1/3 of one section of the fence.

32/4= 8 ft
8 x (1/3) = 2.666
if you only paint 1/3 of one section of that fence you have only painted 2.6666 feet of the fence
