I think Malala became a target is because she is rich and is recognized for human rights advocacy.
So, we know on 9 October 2012, Yousafzai and two other girls were sh#t by a Tehrik-i Taliban Pakistan gunman in an attempt in retaliation for her activism.
Maybe the Taliban was feeling like she can join them or something for a rich purpose...
