First of all, the word SWIFT means:
Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication.
It allows banks to relay information about financial transactions to one another.
So, disconnecting Russia from the SWIFT payment system could cripple its ability to trade with most of the world.
Wicked stuff huh? Especially how Russia tries to take the power over another.
