recognizable characters- it's either first or third person (there are more efficient when writing a story). you can usually make up characters and use different word choices to describe them.
realistic setting and details- for setting you can search up pictures of a place (eg. haunted house images, and then use adjectives to describe it =eg."the dark, isolated castle."
