when stomach cancer becomes metastatic the cancer cells detach from the original tumor and travel solo in the blood to invade other parts of the body. during this process, the extra cellular matrix of the cancer cells also become detached. therefore, you would expect to see in the cell membrane of metastatic stomach cancer cells.
