I don't know what math class you're taking, but this is how I'd approach.
first, find a common factor of 5xy and 10y.
well, "y" is one because it takes place in both numbers.
the second thing I notice is that bot 10 and 5 can be divided by 5, so I would factor 5 ou too.
And my answer would look something like this: 5y(x+5).
To check: distribute 5y by (x+5) and check if you'd get the original equation which is: 5xy+10y.
