Scruffing a ferret is required to restrain the animal when you need to groom, give oral medication or tame the ferret. When you scruff them, they will usually go limp and yawn. Scruffing is when you grab hold of the loose part of a ferret's neck and gathering it, doing this you are able to calm the animal and perform necessary procedures on it.
