If President Richard Nixon did not step down from office, there would have been more Watergate crimes committed. The corruption of Nixon and his supporters would have eaten up the American economy. Those against his presidency would have successfully impeached him based on the Watergate tape evidence. His actions made him instantly unpopular and an authority to avoid for those with politic ambition.
