The approach to foreign affairs that grew out of xenophobia is isolationism. This is a policy of remaining apart from the interests of the affairs of other groups of people, especially the political affairs of other states or countries. The main point was to ensure no direct socialization that might cause people to brush shoulders with each other. This has been seen in countries such as South Africa.
