The answer to the question above is BEING CIRCULAR. In a lexical definition as given above, when it says "chewing gum" is a gum for chewing, this presents a CIRCULAR DEFINITION. What circular definition means is that the definition being given to it is just part of the original term. An example of this kind of definition is this: Circular definition = a definition that is circular.
