and
[tex](x^m)^n=x^{mn} [/tex]
so
[tex]27^\frac{-5}{3}=(3^3)^\frac{-5}{3}=3^\frac{-15}{3}=3^{-5}=[/tex] [tex]\frac{1}{3^5}=\frac{1}{243}[/tex]
