In order to understand this question, remember that starch is a complex carbohydrate or a polysaccharide . This means that it's sugars are more molecularily complex and thicker. Starches have one primary function, and that is to store excess glucose for *plants*. Starches are not produced by animals, because just like humans, fish and cows have a liver that will store glucose with our own polysaccharide; Glycogen.
