the idea that atoms move around definite pathways around the nucleus was coined by Neils Bohr in 1913. he postulated that electrons in the atom will absorb energy and move up to higher orbitals. when the electrons give off energy they go back down to lower orbitals. he postulated that this lose of energy was visible light.
