Hello!
Here are the 2 reasons the 'fossil record' is incomplete.
Reason 1: An animal, (or plant) has to be pretty lucky to become a fossil, and even luckier to be a fossil, and be found..
Reason 2: Many fossils of ancient creatures have either shriveled away or been destroyed by recent/past earthquakes..
