The blood vessels that carry deoxygenated blood back to the heart is called the pulmonary artery. The pulmonary artery is the ONLY artery in the body to carry deoxygenated blood.
On the contrary, the pulmonary vein carries oxygenated blood and is the only vein to carry oxygenated blood.
