On May 29, 1453, after an Ottoman military captured
Constantinople, Mehmed successfully go into the Hagia Sophia, which would turn
out to be the city’s foremost mosque. Emperor Constantine XI died in battle
that day, and that completed the decline and fall of the Byzantine Empire.
