distribute the 1/3 to the y and the 2
So... (1/3)*y and (1/3)*2

(y/3)+(2/3)+3x=7x

Now subtract 3x from both sides

(y/3)+(2/3)=4x

To get rid of the 3 on the bottom of the fractions, you can multiply both sides by 3 so they cancel out.

y+2=12x
Subtract 2 from both sides to get an equation of
y=12x-2
