If the car is parked with its nose pointing DOWN the hill, it can only start rolling backwards if some people or a tow-chain are pushing or pulling it in that direction.
If the car is parked with its nose pointing UP the hill, then gravity alone can make it start rolling backwards, especially if the brake isn't set or it's left in neutral.
