x= first integer
x+2= second integer

Add the integers together set equal to -34.

x + (x+2)= -34
combine like terms
2x + 2= -34
subtract 2 from both sides
2x= -36
divide both sides by 2
x= -18 first integer

Substitute x= -18 to find second integer.
=x+2
= -18 + 2
= -16 second integer

CHECK:
-18 + -16= -34
-34= -34

ANSWER: The first integer is -18 and the second consecutive even integer is -16.

Hope this helps! :)
