As the Sodium Ion contains +ve charge so it will interact with the Oxygen atoms of water molecules. As Oxygen contains partial negative charge it will form intermolecular interaction with sodium Metal. The hydrogen atoms of water will point away from Sodium Ion due to repulsion. The best representation of interaction between Sodium ion (Na⁺) and water molecules is shown below,
