Waist circumference reflects the
degree of visceral fat in proportion to body fatness. Visceral fat is the
fat stored deeper in the skin such as the fat that surrounds the abdominal
organs and excess of it can increase the risk of serious health problems. When taking
the waist circumference, the body fat surrounding the waist is being measured
together with visceral fat.
