How does square root of 48 get to 4 times the square root of 3?

[tex]\sqrt{48}=\sqrt{16\times 3}=\sqrt{16}\times\sqrt{3}= 4\sqrt{3}[/tex]

When 48 is factored, it factors to 4²×3. When you take the square root of that, you get 4√3.
