Given:

Molar mass of methane is 16.04 g/mol

Required:

Number of moles burned in the experiment

Solution:

The data is lacking, however if you are given a mass of methane sample, say for example 50g of methane then,

 

Number of moles = mass / molar mass = 50g/16.04 g/mol = 3.117mol
