3/4x - 20 = 7

3x/4 - 20 = 7   Common denominator is 4.

4 (3x/4 - 20) = 4 x 7  Distribute the 4 though the parenthesis

4 x 3x/4 - 4 x 30 = 4 x 7

3x - 4 x 20 = 4 x 7

3x - 80 = 4 x 7  

3x - 80 = 28  Add 80

3x = 28 + 80

3x = 108  Divide by 3

x = 108/3

x = 36
