Most Creoles came into contact with revolutionary ideas and freedom from three different parts. First, they got the ideas from Enlightenment ideas. Second, they got them from the US Declaration of Independence as well as from the US Constitution.
The Enlightenment was an intellectual movement based on the ideas of freedom, humanitarianism, reason and revolutionary changes in different aspects of science. It was a movement that caused a huge impact on most educated Creoles.
