Annotating can consist of underlining and/or highlighting important information in a passage. Making notes off to the side to remind yourself of key information is also a good choice.

To annotate a text, write meaningful questions, comments, and observations within the text of the book. These annotations will be submitted to your English teacher for a grade. If you are annotating a large passage, record the most important sentence or two from that passage.
