An opera uses a libretto, which includes words, and utilizes the voices of those within the opera. Orchestra symphonies do not have words and the performers voices are not used.
Symphonies generally have 4 movements (parts), a beginning, two middles and an end. There are some that don’t follow this structure but most symphonies do. Opera doesn’t have an outline structure and is dependent on the amount of people in the performance.
