The two formulas you have to know is how to find the area of a rectangle and circle
-rectangle is a=b
-circle is a=3.14r squared.
Start by finding the area of the rectangle
A=bh
A=15*8
A=120
Next find the area of the circle
A=3.14r squared
A=3.14*8.5 squared
A=3.14*72.25
A=226.865
Then you are going to subtract the rectangle from he circle so you can just have the area of the shaded portion. So the area of the shaded area is 106.865. I hope this helps you for future problems :)
