The Laws of Migration is a book of  E. G. Ravenstein of 1885.

Ernest Ravenstein is considered as the first  migration theory.

Ravenstein was an English geographer who used data  census tracts from England and Wales to  develop what became known as the laws of  Laws of Migration.

He concluded that migration was governed by process  push-pull; that is, by unfavorable conditions in a  place (oppressive laws, heavy taxes, etc.) that  they pushed people to other places.
