A company had a loss of -$1,786.50 over the past 1.5 years. What was the company's average loss per year?

There are probably multiple ways to do this, but I divided the total loss (-$1786.50) by 3 to get the average loss for a half of a year. For this, I got -$595.5. Then, I multiplied by 2 to get the average loss for a full year, which I got -$1191.
