Step-by-step explanation:

gradient = (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1)

-1/2 = (r - 2)/(3 - (-3))

-1/2 = (r - 2)/6

-1/2(6) = r - 2

-3 = r - 2

-3 + 2 = r

hence r = -1.
