Subtract k from 7: k-7

then triple the result: 3(k-7)

if you want to solve for k then

3(k-7)

=3k - 21

or 3k = 21

divide both sides by 3

3k/3 = 21/3

k =7

Subtracting k from 7, =  k - 7

Tripling the result means multiplying by 3 =  3*(k - 7)

= 3*k - 3*7

= 3k - 21

I hope this helps.
