LA =  1/2(PL) where P is the perimeter of the base and L is the slant height.

SA = surface area    B = area of base   LA = lateral area

SA = B + LA = B + 1/2(PL)

P = 4(8) = 32       B = (8)(8) = 64     L = 7

SA = 64 + 1/2(32)7

SA = 8(8) + 1/2(32)(7)

     = 64 + 112

     = 176 sq ft.
