for a line to be parallel to another, the slopes of the lines need to match; so, the slope for your second line will be 2 as well.

plug that slope and the given point into point-slope form:

y - y1 = m(x - x1)

y + 5 = 2(x - 6)

then you solve it for y to get it into slope-intercept form

y + 5 = 2x - 12

y = 2x - 17
