To find f(-8) and f(6), all that we need to do is plug in each of the numbers for x.

f(-8) = -8 - 1 = -9

f(-8) = -9

f(6) = 6 - 1 = 5

f(6) = 5

If f(-x) = x - 1, then f(x) = - x - 1. So

f(-8) = 8 - 1 = 7

and

f(6) = - 6 - 1 = -7
