The reason why it's a positive instead of a negative is because when you have an even number of positives in an equation the answer will always be positive and vice versa.
the answer would be -29 since the negative number is bigger u keep the negative sign think with money you are -21$ in debt and you spend 8 dollars you just put yourself in more debt so add 21 and 8 you get -29
