Deoxyribose is the substances along with sugar and phosphates . The rungs of the ladder are made up of 5 nitrogenous bases adenine, thymine, cytosine, and guanine.

An easier way to remember this is: There are 4 substances, Thymine, Cytosine, Guanine, and Adenine. Each pair will only go with one other. The curvy letters C and G for Cytosine and Guanine are a pair. And the Adenine and Thymine are a pair as well. The DNA is made up from these pairs, and other substances
