Yes, production rate is higher. They would be more valuable. Probably make more money which allowed them to be freed sooner. Would probably have harder jobs unlike working as a servant.
I think that they do because then they can do more and be more appreciated by the slave owners. I mean, their skill sets may want the slave owners to keep them longer but at least they will more than likely get more benefits.
