As you may think that Mercury is he closest planet to the sun,tho its not hotter than Venus.Venus temperature.The surface is 462 °C or 863 °F.

The planet with the greatest temperature extremes is Mercury.

Planets experiences different ranges of the temperature depending on their position with respect to the sun. Since, mercury is the only planet which is too close to the sun, therefore it experiences the high range of the temperature. It experiences 900°F during the day and -350° during the night.
