Set it up as a proportion.

x/9 = 1/3
1/3 = 3/9
x/9 = 3/9
x = 3

[tex] \frac{1}{3}= \frac{3}{9} [/tex]

[tex]\frac{3}{9}= \frac{1}{9}+ \frac{1}{9}+ \frac{1}{9} [/tex]

So it takes three [tex] \frac{1}{9} [/tex] to make [tex] \frac{1}{3} [/tex]
