Well, I do not know if this is the specific answer you are looking for but this is basically what plasma membranes do.

Plasma Membrane: Phospholipid bilayer that determines/regulates which molecules are allowed to enter a cell.
One of the roles of plasma membrane proteins is that it provides an interaction environment for the cells.
